The Baccalauréat en traduction professionnelle is a 90-credit bachelor's degree at Université de Sherbrooke's Faculté des lettres et sciences humaines, leading to the degree of Bachelière or bachelier ès arts. The programme trains professional translators to work mainly from English into French, building skills in text translation across varied genres and domains, writing, and revision of translated texts, alongside theoretical and historical knowledge of French and in-depth analysis of English source texts. Students learn to use specialized translation software and to account for cultural dimensions of translation work. The curriculum is designed to meet the accreditation criteria of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ), giving graduates who satisfy OTTIAQ's requirements access to the certified translator and certified terminologist titles. The programme is offered under a regular study regime, full-time or part-time, or under a co-operative (work-study) full-time regime, with admission at the Fall and Winter terms at the Sherbrooke main campus.
