The Department of Chemical Engineering at Queen's University offers research-oriented graduate study leading to a Master of Engineering (MEng) or a Master of Applied Science (MASc). The MEng is a one-year, course-based program requiring eight term-length courses, a non-credit Master of Engineering Foundations course, and departmental seminars, with no thesis. The MASc is a thesis-based program, typically completed in 18 to 24 months, requiring four term-length courses, a research thesis, and participation in departmental seminars. Research areas include bioengineering, materials and interfaces, process systems engineering and systems biology, and clean energy and sustainable environment. The department is based in Dupuis Hall and the Biosciences Complex, with links to multidisciplinary centres including the Centre for Health Innovation and the Queen's Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research. MEng students are self-funded; MASc students may be eligible for departmental funding. Graduates pursue careers in academia, consulting, finance, manufacturing, petroleum, and pharmaceuticals, or continue to MASc or PhD study.
