This honours degree teaches students to design and build software across desktop, mobile, cloud and web platforms, while also giving a broad grounding in the fundamentals of modern information systems, covering hardware, operating systems, multimedia and networking. The curriculum also introduces newer computing fields such as connected IoT devices, analytics-driven data work and AI techniques.
An industrial placement is built into the course, intended to set the academic material in the context of real computer applications used in industry and to prepare graduates for working careers in software engineering specifically. Teaching mixes lectures, tutorials, laboratory work, group projects and seminars, with instruction mainly in English and some modules taught in French.
Completed over three years full time under the standard honours route, the degree is designed to produce bilingual, industry-ready software engineering graduates rather than purely theoretical computer scientists.
